Sound Story

Hey guys! I know I've been gone for a while, but I'm back. For the past few weeks, I learned how to create sounds and use them to tell stories without any visuals. It's been super fun! With my knowledge and expertise, I made a "Sound Story." It's like a mini-movie but for your eyes only. I took everyday objects and recorded some unique noises to build a short tale. Below I attached my Sound Story, which is about a police car chase throughout the city. Put on some headphones, close your eyes, and listen!

Sound Story

The sound story is an action-packed chase through the city. The story follows a high-speed police pursuit, where officers are trying to catch a suspect racing through busy streets. It all ends with a dramatic crash and arrest

To make this story come alive with just sounds, I started by making a simple plan of what should happen and when. First, I needed the perfect city sounds to set the scene such as cars honking, people talking, etc. Throughout the city scene, I overlayed classical music to set the vibe of the scene. Then, I searched for all the exciting sounds: police sirens, car engines, helicopter noises, megaphones, police officers yelling, driving noises, heavy breathing, heartbeat, running, car beeping, and a tackling noise. I found most of these on CapCut's sound library, and some others from YouTube and Google.

The fun part was putting it all together! Using CapCut, I lined up each sound from the loud city to the intense chase, the big crash (that one took forever to get right!), and finally the arrest. I had to play around with when each sound came in and how loud it should be. Some parts needed multiple sounds playing at once, like having the helicopter noise mix with police sirens and the city sounds in the background. I'm proud of myself for how all these different sounds came together to tell a story that plays like a movie.

Foley Stage

The process of making the foley stage was a little bit difficult. I had to figure out what sounds I should use in the story and how to make specific sounds. I learned that making sound effects is kind of like solving puzzles, you have to get creative, and sometimes the solution isn't what you would expect. Overall, It was fun figuring out how everyday objects could make the sounds I needed for my story!
