Color Grading

Hey everyone! Back with another update on my short film "Lost Signal." Today, I'm talking about the use of color grading.

Color grading is basically the process of adjusting colors in a video or image. I'm shooting everything in LOG mode on my camera. This means that the footage will look flat and gray at first, but in post-production, I have more control over the colors displayed. I can add whatever colors and moods I want later. I found some LUT presets online where I can make my footage look more cinematic with just a few clicks, which makes the process a whole lot simpler. LUT presets are color filters that automatically change all the colors in your image or video.

I will be using a lot of dark blues and deep shadows. I found some horror movie presets online that help make everything look more dramatic. The colors get more intense as the film progresses. As I wrap up filming my final scenes, I will try to tweak the contrast to make the important things stand out. For example, there's a scene with the main character using his phone in the night, and I want the screen to look extra bright against the dark room. I also want the shadows to become deeper and scarier.
