Hello, my fellow bloggers! As you know I have been prepping/planning my short film for the past few weeks and I have been sharing my ideas with you guys on how I want my film to turn out. Today, I wanted to share how my first day of filming went and what's coming up next.
Filming started last night at my house. I began with the bedroom scenes, which needed to look like it was the middle of the night. The LED panel light from BECON TV worked perfectly, it created this eerie blue glow that made everything feel unsettling. I spent about 30 minutes just getting the lighting right.
Next, the phone screen shots were trickier than expected. I had to film several takes because reflections kept showing up on the screen. The tripod mount helped keep everything steady, especially for the extreme close-ups. The audio came out clean which I am very happy about. The window shots came out great. I waited until around 9 PM when most houses were dark. I like how these shots look exactly how I imagined them.
I tried filming the flickering street light scene, but it didn't work out as planned. The light looked too bright on camera, so I’ll need to reshoot this another night. I Might need to adjust the lighting setup or try a different angle. The sound recording went smoothly overall. The Rode mic picked up all the small details like wrapper crinkling and ambient room sounds. I’ll probably need to add some extra sound effects during editing, especially for the error notifications and that final power-down sound. My shooting schedule for the next few days will take place next weekend as I’ll have enough time to film all the remaining scenes.
