Hey bloggers! Today I will introduce my final project idea. Previously, I showcased 3 concepts of what my final project would consist of. I have decided to create something entirely new, a new idea focused around capturing an eerie feeling and an unsettling experience of isolation.
My final project is about someone who stays up late one night and discovers they might be the only person still awake in their city. As the individual tries to contact others, strange things start to happen around him. What makes it scary is the creepy feeling of being completely alone. My film will focus psychological horror/thriller. I chose this genre because I want to challenge myself in creating an horror story using everyday things we all know. For example, when your phone suddenly stops working, or when you are the only one awake at night. This kind of horror is more about what you don't see than what you do see, which makes it easier to film and more unsettling to watch.
The coolest part is that everything strange happens through the main character's phone and what they see out their window. This makes it both easy to film and relatable. For example, we may all have experienced of being alone at night, checking our phones, wondering why everyone else is offline. I believe what makes this film stand out is that it never really explains what is happening. This will make the viewer ask questions and start to ponder what happens next.
