Storyboard

What's up, followers! If you were keeping up with my blogs, you may have come across a post about my storyboard for my short film opener. Even though the storyboard hasn't changed, I wanted to share more details about it.

Basically here is a rundown of my storyboard:

1. Normal Late Night Scene

  • Extreme close-ups of phone screen
  • Main character scrolling through various social media (TikTok/Instagram)
  • Room filled with snacks and drinks scattered around
  • Calm lighting from the phone screen and lamp
  • Steady camera movements

2. Something Feels Wrong

  • Wi-Fi signal starts dropping
  • Apps begin to not work
  • Medium shots showing the character's confusion
  • Wide shots revealing dark empty houses and empty street
  • Mysterious message appears from an unknown number
  • Stable camera movements

3. Things get creepy

  • POV shots to show the main character's perspective
  • Rapid camera cuts
  • Glitch effects to portray an eerie vibe
  • A dark hooded figure is shown, rapidly intensifies
  • Failed phone calls
  • Phone dies
  • Final moment of complete darkness
  • Title sequence

My film will use various extreme close-ups of the phone to create intimacy and detail. Wide shots will be used to establish isolation. Medium shots will show the character's reactions. Lastly, point-of-view shots will put viewers in the character's position. I believe these varieties of shots will help tell the story visually.
