Unexpected Problems During Filming

Hey everyone! Today, I will talk about my struggles in making my short film. Initially, I thought filming would be easier than editing, but it quickly became complicated.

The biggest problem I had was with my shotgun microphone. During filming, the microphone kept picking up random background noises for some reason, which was not supposed to happen. I spent a good chunk of time trying to fix the audio, reposition the mic, and try different recording settings. Sometimes the mic would catch the slight movement of the camera, which ruined the clean sound. To fix this issue, I used a wind muff (dead cat), which blocked out all the unwanted noise. A wind muff is the fuzzy thing that goes on top of the microphone.

Another issue was the gimbal I used. It's supposed to make camera movements smooth, but it kept acting weird. Some shots would be perfectly stable, and then suddenly the camera would shake or drift. I spent extra time re-shooting scenes because the gimbal was not cooperating. Basically, I had to play with the settings and change some things to stop making the gimbal jerk around. Furthermore, the camera software, the "Blackmagic" app, which I used to film all my scenes, gave me some trouble. The quality of the video would worsen, and it was not able to record in the proper settings I wanted. This made the filming process much more difficult, as I had to constantly play with the settings. In the end, I fixed this issue by watching a couple of YouTube videos where I had to adjust my iPhone settings and the app settings. Despite all these challenges, I was able to get past these issues and move forward with my film.
